Remember how people are animals? Here's proof... a lot of thinking about food.

I've spent the week obsessed with Will Jones' hilarious 1961 cookbook "Wild in the Kitchen." Beyond recipes like 'Chicken that Tastes like Chicken' and 'Pheasant that Tastes like Pheasant' ("follow recipe for Chicken that Tastes like Chicken, but use a pheasant"), today I read his treatise on fonduemanship, which has harsh words for Swiss skiers who make fondue on the trail over an alcohol burner. "That is NOT good fonduemanship. That is just effete and decadent skiing."

I also made a 'Deviled Fried Egg Sandwich Guillaume' this morning. It transported me to 1961, but a better 1961 with civil rights and egg sammitches for everybody, except the vegans. Vegans in 1961 are probably all in heaven. Now. Not then.

My goal Tuesday is to hunt down some sapsago cheese because Will Jones is obsessed with it.

He also includes a letter to his fictional house staff about how to treat his cheap caviar.

Will Jones is dead but he is loved.
