REPORT

Ok. ok ok ok ok ok.

I made it through the first week. 3 of 4 classes went fine, or at least I'm not completely ashamed of how they went. That's better than my percentage from last term. So ok. Three classes next week - market research, sustainability, and image use. I will make it if I don't bungle the first two.

A lovely respite from all this work garbage was going to the gym on Wednesday. Wednesdays there's a 'Silver & Fit' class that is my favorite thing to watch. They do it in a big open space in the room where I 'run' on the elliptical thingy, so if I time it right I can watch the whole thing. It's mostly older ladies, but with a smattering of gentlemen thrown in, and they sit on those big bouncy balls and do arm exercises and roll around. That makes it sounds like it's not a workout, but it actually looks pretty tough. There's not a lot of smiling... that's how I know it's hard. They take a long break in the middle where some of them meander around talking, and some of them lift weights. This week during break one of the women went to the nursery and brought her granddaughter into the gym, and everybody went apeshit over the baby. It was awesome. Even the old grouchy guys got big old grins and came over and pinched baby toes and tried to make her giggle. The guy with a hook for a hand got a big laugh out of her.

At the end of class there's always this ritual where the old dudes reassert their masculinity. As everyone moves their big bouncy balls to the Big Bouncy Ball Storage Area, the guys always bounce the balls around and hit each other with them, and the ladies just carry theirs nicely or roll them. Except for the poor guy with the hook, who is always stuck carrying his wife's purse.

Anyway. I love it. I love it when it's someone's birthday, too, because they always sing. A few weeks ago it was some lady's 90th birthday! Imagine working out on a bouncy ball at 90! It gives me aspirations. And the vapors.
